Andrew William Oden (Drew), age 41, of Dallas, TX sadly passed away on January 19, 2025.

Drew was born February 11, 1983, in Tulsa, OK to William R. Oden (Bill) and Kathryn Karns Oden (Kathy).  He grew up in Tulsa attending Jenks schools from second grade through high school.  He started playing tennis at the age of 10.  He loved the sport and really excelled at it.  He was on the Jenks tennis team and brought home many trophies and medals.  His highest accomplishment in tennis was winning state in doubles in 2002.  In 2000, Drew and his dad attended the US Open Tennis tournament in Flushing Meadows, NY.  This trip was a very special father/son event.  Drew graduated from Jenks High School in 2002.  He attended the University of Oklahoma and joined the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.  He graduated with a major in accounting.

With his accounting background, he chose to pursue a career in finance, specifically, working closely with loan officers as their analyst obtaining financing for multifamily real estate projects.  He worked at PNC Bank, Prudential Investment Management, Bellwether, and Marcus and Millichap.

In 2009, he began dating Andrea Frye (Katie) and was married on April 25, 2015, in Dallas.  Carter Marie Oden, their only child, was born on April 17, 2019.  They later divorced in 2023.

During high school and college, he taught himself sleight of hand magic tricks and obtained the skill level of a professional magician.  He continued refining his skill and really enjoyed entertaining family, friends and strangers with his abilities.  He became known as the "Magic Man," a name people gave him who did not know him.

He was very interested in chess and became a very accomplished player.  His analytical ability led him to start playing poker online.  For his 21st birthday, his dad took him to Las Vegas to attend the World Series Poker Championship as a spectator and to play Texas Hold'em at the casinos.

He had a very positive outlook on life. His goal each day was to compliment someone he did not know about a personal trait he noticed about them. When he did this, it would just light up their face and his comment had a positive effect on him as well.

Unfortunately, he was exposed to childhood and work trauma that made it necessary to attend a rehab facility in Edwards, CO known as "All Points North Lodge."   He was there for three months rebuilding his life.  He worked very hard on his recovery going forward. Fellow recoveries have said how encouraging and supportive he was in their path to recovery.

The light of his life and the most important person in his life was his daughter.   He continued to endure intense physical pain throughout his body, but that did not deter him from being the best possible dad to Carter.  When he was with her, he focused on her needs and desires, wanting to create fun and memorable experiences they would both relish, while never letting his pain be noticeable to her.  They had many wonderful times together.  Music was a big part of their playtime.  She loved dressing up in her princess dresses, singing and dancing with her dad.  Carter adored him and cherished every moment with him.  She loved our family gatherings where she could play with her very close in age cousins, William and Hannah Flusche.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Kathy Karns Oden, his grandparents, Don and Helen Oden, Don and Lorene Karns and his aunt, Carrie Karns Shreck.

Surviving family members include his daughter, Carter Marie Oden of Dallas, parents, Bill and Barbara Oden, sister, Jamie Oden Flusche (Ben) and their two children, William and Hannah, of Tulsa, stepbrothers, Brent Mills (Jennifer) of Austin and Beau Speer of New York City and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.  He is also survived by his best friend, who was more like a brother to him, Adam Travis. And let's not forget his faithful companion Baxter, his Maltichon dog that was his shadow.

Drew will be missed beyond belief.  His life blessed family, friends and so many others.  Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing he is now in the loving arms of Jesus, his mother and grandparents and is now free of pain.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 2:00pm at   at Stanleys Funeral Home at 3959 E 31st Street, Tulsa, OK 74135.
