Obituary

Barbara Ann Morris, 85, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, left her earthly home on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

Barbara was born in Purcell, Oklahoma on December 13th, 1938, to Aaron and Ada Walker. She graduated from Del City high school where she was a cheerleader. Barbara met the love of her life, Hugh Morris, while she was still in high school. They secretly married in Texas and lived apart for her senior year of high school so Hugh could keep his football scholarship at Northeastern A & M. They officially married in the church the following summer on July 12th, 1957; they were married 63 years before Hugh was taken from her. They loved taking trips to the beach and spending time together watching their favorite shows. Mom especially enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She used to throw Christmas pajama parties for the grandkids where they would make reindeer cookies and watch movies.

After having four children, Barbara returned to school and graduated from Tulsa Community College with a nursing degree. She worked almost 10 years at St. Francis Hospital in the NICU with the premature babies. She later continued working as a nurse while living in Phoenix and then again at Hillcrest Hospital when they returned to Tulsa. Family was so important to Barbara. She was a proud mother, Mimi, and great grandmother.

Barbara is survived by her sister, Sandra Cahill and brother, Jim Walker; Daughters, Kerri Buerker, Vicki Vrooman, Melissa and husband Doug Halve, and son, Richard and wife Sarah.  She had 9 grandchildren: Michael Buerker, Max Buerker, Weston Vrooman, Katie Morris, Benjamin Morris, Valiree Morris, Christopher Morris, Connor Halve, and Claire Halve; 6 great grandchildren: Dean Gerrior, Anna Buerker, Eloise Buerker, Lila Buerker, Ada Buerker, and Lily Mae Morris.

The family of Barbara Morris wishes to thank everyone for their love and support throughout this difficult time.
