Billie Lee Dodge passed from this life on July 18, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 101. She was born on May 25, 1919 in Nowata, Oklahoma to Charles Honeywell Dodge and Cora Ann Dodge (nee Keys).
Billie Graduated from Nowata High School and the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasaw. She taught one year in Sapulpa and then taught girl's physical education at Wilson Junior High in Tulsa for 36 years, retiring in 1980. She was an outstanding golfer all of her life, winning a tournament when she was 16 and continuing to win or place highly in many tournaments in Oklahoma and the region.
After retirement, Billie was active with traveling abroad, playing golf and being in a bowling league. She was a prominent golfer in the area and was active with the Oklahoma Women's State Golf Association, Mohawk and Page Belcher Women's' Golf Associations. Billie was also a proud member of the Delaware tribe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; close friend, Doris Sutterfield; sisters, Iris Henton, Virginia Johnson and Joan Simpson; brothers, Ford Dodge, Vance Dodge, Chubb Dodge, Russell Dodge and Victor Dodge; nieces, Betty Jones and Daphne Burkhart; great friends, Monte Campbell, Shirley Green, and Cathy McNerney; her dog, Tinker; and her cat, 4-Socks.
Billie is survived by her nieces, Ann Hyden of California, Lyn Hermann of Texas, Annette Simpson of Texas, Suzann Adams and Sandra Craven; nephews, Wm. Dodge Simpson of Oklahoma, Russell Dodge, Jr. and Skip Dodge; great niece, Crystal Garcia and great-great niece Kurstin Garcia; great friends, Mary Peterson, Billie Payne and Gina Sparks; and numerous other family members and friends.
Billie was an independent spirit to the end. She lived on her own and enjoyed her cigarettes and a "milk punch" every night. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
