Obituary

Jack London wrote, "The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time." All who knew Carlos Bryan Tuttle know that he did not waste any days but made the most of his time by loving humanity (especially his many former students).

Carlos, known by most as Mr. Tuttle, passed away on April 14, 2022 at the age of 89.  He was born on August 13, 1932 to Andrew and Gladys Tuttle In Maud, Oklahoma and had 7 siblings.

While completing studies at the University of Texas in Austin, Carlos met the love of his life, Elizabeth Orman, and married her on February 11, 1956.  They spent many happy years together including raising their children and traveling the country training and showing their dogs in many shows.

Carlos spent most all of his adult life in education and was beloved by his students and the many lives he touched.  He treasured opportunities to serve people through the Episcopal church and helped to establish a local charity providing camp, counseling and other services to children whose parents have been incarcerated.

He was preceded in death by his precious wife, Elizabeth, and his daughter, Lucy.  He is survived by his son, John, his many nieces and nephews, and his special feline friend of whom he had become quite fond.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 29 at 2:00pm at St. John's Episcopal Church, 4200 S. Atlanta Pl. in Tulsa. In lieu of flowers donations in his name to Iron Gate Tulsa would be greatly appreciated.
