Carolyn June King was born on July 17, 1929 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Leland William King and Bertha Frances (Pigg) King.  She was the youngest member of the family which included her sister, Mary Elizabeth King (Sisney) born in 1916 and two brothers, Leland William King, Jr. born 1918 (Bill) and James Solomon King born 1921 (Jimmy).  Her father's life career in banking supported his wife and children very comfortably and her mother, Bertha was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  They lived in their family home at 1544 E. Indianapolis in Tulsa where all four children were raised.  All immediate family members preceded her in death; Jimmy was killed in WWII in 1944, Bertha passed in 1976, Leland passed shortly after his wife in 1977, Bill in 1984 and Mary in 2009.  They were all terribly missed upon their deaths.

Carolyn graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa in 1947.  She was easy to make friends and kept her close friends throughout her life.  She met her future husband at a friend's wedding in Tulsa and married Lyman Hall Alexander on June 17, 1952.  After living in Tulsa her entire life, in 1961 they moved their family to Ft. Smith, Arkansas. During their marriage, they raised four children, James Randle, born in 1953, Jeanne Anne, born in 1954; Jeri Leigh, born in 1957 and Mark William, born in 1960.  She was involved in her son's many athletic programs and spent many evenings at the baseball fields, basketball courts and football fields. She was also very proud of her daughter's talents in sewing, decorating and encouraged dance and music.  She was always very supportive of her children and a caring mother. She assisted her husband with his business endeavors, providing administrative support and kept a comfortable home for her family.  They attended First Christian Church where Alex was a Deacon.  Her son, Randy and his family are still very active in that church.   Carolyn enjoyed duplicate bridge and excelled in club and tournament play. She was awarded Life Master in 1992..  Like her mother, she was very social and made many life friends in Ft Smith and remained close to her family and friends in Tulsa where most all the major holidays were spent at either her parent's or sister's home.  Many wonderful memories were made during those family gatherings.  She also enjoyed fishing and spending time at her sister's family cabin in Red Bud.

In 1982, after 29 years of marriage, Alex and Carolyn divorced and she returned home to Tulsa.  She was employed by Thrifty Car Rental as a Reservation Specialist and was awarded for her customer service skills on many occasions.  She retired from Thrifty in 1998.  Carolyn enjoyed a comfortable and fulfilling life in Tulsa, playing bridge, enjoying sports, usually winning at the casinos and spending time with her friends.  She travelled after her retirement to Montreal with her daughter Jeanne, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe and other places with friends, visited her daughter, Jeri, in Denver many times and checked off a bucket list item by attending a game at Wrigley Field in Chicago with her son, Mark.

Special acknowledgment and love go to Jeanne's husband, Steve Brantingham and Mark's wife, Traci (Harper) Alexander and their children, Sara and Jacob for always being there for Carolyn, supporting her emotionally and financially through good and bad times. Carolyn also appreciated and loved her circle of bridge friends very much and considered them her family as well.

She left 7 grandchildren:  Lori Annette Jones (Conn) (1976), Rachel Elizabeth Alexander (Smith) (1981), Rebecca Leanne Alexander (1985), Megan Anne Henry (1986), Hannah Marie Henry (Apodaca) (1988), Sara Ann Alexander (1994) and Jacob William Alexander (1999).

She left 11 great grandchildren:  Trent James Conn (2002), Samantha Jane Conn (2007) Tyler Lee Conn (2008), Elizabeth Lyneice Conn (2014), Kaitlyn Rae Alexander (2001), Jaelyn Rose Alexander (2007), Jack Walker Smith (2017), Gracelyn Kate Smith (2018, who died at birth), Mason Charles Apodaca (2011), Ava Isabel Apodaca (2013), Brooklyn Marie Apodaca (2016).

Carolyn passed peacefully on March 2, 2019 surrounded by her children and childhood friend, Patsy Melton.
