Obituary

Catherine "Cathy" Ellen LaFortune Cooper passed from this life on March 26th 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 82.  Cathy was born on June 30th, 1935 in South Bend Indiana to Lucius and Ellen (Kovach) LaFortune.

Cathy was a devoted wife, beloved sister, cherished aunt, and proud mother and grandmother, yet managed to give her time to others.  She was married to Sam Cooper for almost 35 years and took great care of him until his passing in 1996.  Cathy kept score for little league baseball, attended all of her son Mark's sporting and school events, volunteered at Saint Francis Hospital, and worked at B. Dalton Bookstore, which eventually became Barnes & Noble, for over 30 years. She was active in the Tulsa Bowling Association, winning many awards and trophies with her team, "The Pick-Ups," while also playing bridge in various groups throughout South Tulsa.  She made life-long friends through these endeavors and, in later years, celebrated these friendships, along with family love, while taking cruises to Portugal, Ireland, Nova Scotia, Mexico and Alaska.  She enjoyed gardening, as well as collecting high end crystal, porcelain, and of course, antique clocks.  She was stylish, yet feisty, and, when faced with medical challenges late in life, conquered them all, including cancer.  Cathy adored her dogs, each having a distinct purpose in her life.  She enjoyed OU Football, crossword puzzles, reading and vacationing at the beach, especially with her brother Dan and his family in California.  Nothing, however, gave Cathy more joy than sharing time with loved ones, particularly her grandchildren.

Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Cooper; and her parents. She is survived by her son, Mark S. Cooper and wife Julie I. Cooper; daughter, Sara Allen; grandchildren, Zachary Cooper, Lauren Cooper, Vannesa Miller and husband Zach; brother, Daniel Louis LaFortune and wife Virginia; 4 nieces and nephews; 3 great grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.
