Charlotte G. Slemp, 91, a longtime resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma and more recently, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed away February 22, 2022, at Prairie House Assisted Living.

Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma July 18, 1930, she was the second of twins born to William "Dow" Gibson and Mary "Louise" (Gibson) Gibson. With the sudden death of her father at age 2, her mother returned to Norman, Oklahoma to live in the home of her parents where Charlotte and her sister Ann grew up.  She attended Norman High School, graduating in 1948. After graduation, she attended the University of Oklahoma graduating in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics with an Internship in Dietetics.

Charlotte met her future husband, Asa "Ace" Harvey Slemp, Jr at the First Presbyterian Church in Norman. They were married in the church on September 5, 1953.  They established their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Charlotte secured a position as a Therapeutic Dietitian at St. John Hospital in 1953. During her career at St. John, she also taught Nutrition in the School of Nursing and subsequently became the Director of Dietary and held that position until her retirement in 1995. She was long standing member of the Oklahoma Dietetic Association.

She had many interests and managed to squeeze them all in. Charlotte was a huge sports fan and hardly ever missed watching an OU Football Game, rooting for the ORU Baseball Team, Chicago Cubs, and the Texas Rangers. Her favorite television channels were ESPN-Sports and Major League Baseball.

She was a great Bridge player; liked to win but enjoyed the fellowship and serving dessert, usually one of her homemade pies.

She was an accomplished seamstress, making her own clothes, her daughters', costumes for Ace's Barbershop quartet and assisting with making Quilts for Family Reunions.

As an avid reader, she began each day with reading the Tulsa World, moved on to the crossword puzzle and crypto quote for the day. She enjoyed all types of books except for Science Fiction. When she finished each book, she initialed and passed it on to the members of the unofficial book club.

Charlotte had the opportunity to travel to China, Alaska, Belize, the Maritime Islands, and Europe including Oberammergau.  In her travels she made new friends and continued to stay in touch. With each trip she took hundreds of pictures and journaled what occurred on the trip.

Charlotte loved to plant flowers in her yard and especially loved watching the daffodils bloom early in the Spring.

Charlotte and her family joined College Hill Presbyterian Church in 1965. She was ordained as a Ruling Elder in 1997 and served on Session.  She oversaw to having flowers placed in the church sanctuary, was involved with the Luncheon Club served on the Mission and Outreach and Pastor Nominating Committees.

After she retired, Charlotte volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Emergency Infant Services, and Kendal Whittier Elementary.   No matter how busy she was she managed to attend her grandchildren's dance recitals, band concerts, football and baseball games, graduations, and a myriad of other events.

Charlotte was the happiest when she was with family, friends, playing bridge, and serving others.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy S. McKown and husband Ted of Plano, Texas, her son A.H. Slemp, III ("Buddy") and wife Kathy P. Slemp of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and her daughter Alison Kaye and husband Adam Kaye of  Overland Park, Kansas; Grandchildren-Jordan English and husband Daniel, Tara Plecenski, Laura Plecenski, Michael Plecenski, Houston Slemp and wife Amber, Neil McKown and wife Erin, Leslie McKown, Abigail Kaye, Asa Kaye, Amelia Kaye, Asher Kaye, Avery Kaye, and Ava Kaye and great grandchildren Avernly Slemp, and Eli McKown.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Asa "Ace" Harvey Slemp, Jr, and her sister Ann C. Gibson.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service on Monday March 28, 2022, at 2:30pm at College Hill Presbyterian Church, 712 S Columbia Ave, Tulsa, Oklahoma at 2:30pm; Reception to follow.
