Claudia Lea (Matney) Brown-King, entered into eternal rest on June 22, 2024, in Tulsa, OK. She was born on October 17, 1942, in Tulsa, to Woody and Shirley Matney. She attended Barnard and Eisenhower Elementary Schools as well as Thomas Edison Jr. and Sr. High Schools, having graduated in 1960. She attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Tulsa where she received both her bachelor's and master's Degrees. She was a member of Psi Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, Kappa Kappa Iota, PEO Chapter DG, Assistance League of Tulsa, Tulsa Area Alumnae Panhellenic and The Oklahoma Retired Educators Association. She devoted her life for over 30 years to teaching children, having retired in 1998. After retirement, she continued to work in the education field as a tutor for the "No Child Left Behind Program". She was a travel agent for her parents' travel agency, Matney Travel Service, where she escorted tours and traveled extensively. Claudia was also very involved with her Edison High School Class of '60 reunions serving as a co-chair for most events and was actively involved with her Gamma Phi Beta Alumnae Chapter. Claudia is survived by her 2 sons, William Randall Brown of Broken Arrow and Stephen Kyle Matney Brown and wife Kaylynn of Moore, OK; 1 sister, Rebecca Sue Jones and husband Dr. Charles Michael Jones of Dallas, Texas; grandson Nathan Charles Brown of Broken Arrow, OK; 3 granddaughters, Jaidyn Michele Brown, Addison Charlea Brown, and Elizabeth Carol Brown of Moore, OK; nephew Robert Michael Jones of Dallas, Texas; and niece Amanda Sue Polansky and husband Charles E. Polansky of Dallas, Texas. Claudia was preceded in death by her parents Woody and Shirley Matney and her husband, Thomas J. King.
