Dale Chase Elder

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dale Chase Elder, as we also remember the great joy he brought into all of our lives.

Dale was born, May 21st, 1957, in Kansas City, Missouri, the 4th of 5 children, to his loving parents James and Mary Elder. Life in the Elder household was never dull, and great bonds formed between Dale, his parents, and his siblings. During this time Dale joyfully welcomed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and became a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Dale excelled in school and developed a great business sense at a young age. (He always won at Monopoly!) He graduated from Edison High School in Tulsa Oklahoma in 1975, and subsequently received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University in 1979 and his Juris Doctorate from Baylor University School of Law in 1983, along with CPA certification. It was during his time in Waco that Dale bought and renovated his first house, an activity he would continue throughout his life. Dale applied his business savvy and education to help colleagues and friends understand the complexities of finance and law. During Dale’s professional career he worked for accounting firms and financial institutions in Houston Texas, Boise Idaho and Winston-Salem North Carolina, where he championed a more civil approach to business rather than focusing only on the bottom line.

Dale was an incredibly giving person always pitching in to help others succeed with their own projects. At weddings, dinner parties, and holiday gatherings, Dale always created the perfect and welcoming ambience. Dale has touched many lives. We especially want to recognize and thank his dear friends; David, Doug, and Donnie, for their unwavering support over the past two years. Dale also had a deep love for dogs and especially for his faithful beagle, Phoebe.

Dale was preceded in death by his father, James Dale Elder, and his mother, Mary Agnes Pringle Elder. He is survived by his siblings, James T. Elder, Adrienne Elder-Lutz, Edward Elder, and John Elder, nieces Paige Crowe and Taylor Nixon, and nephews Gabriel, Gregory and Adam Elder-Goldenberg.

A memorial service and internment will be held at the Bazaar Cemetery, Bazaar, Kansas on October 10th, 2026 @ 11:00am, with reception at the Community Center immediately following the service.
