Diana Lee
Nelson
Jan 22, 1963 — Feb 28, 2026
Owasso
Diana Lee Nelson, age 63, passed away Saturday, February 28,2026 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Diana was born to Charles Ray and JoAnn Margaret (Ramey) Scott on January 22, 1963, in Bakersfield, California where she joined her four-year-old sister, Valarie. She was a graduate of West High School in 1981 where she met her lifelong best friend Bev Ann Moss.
As a young adult, Diana worked as a cocktail waitress at a popular restaurant in Taft, California named the White Elephant where she met and fell in love with the love of her life Gregory Charles Nelson. Greg and Diana were married on October 19, 1985 and just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in October of 2025. Diana was a devoted wife and mother and spent her time raising her three children.
Once her children were grown, Diana enjoyed bartending, running a thriving karaoke business, and waitressing. She was a devoted friend to anyone who knew her and enjoyed helping anyone in need. Some of her best friends were also her many cousins and extended family. She could always be found at a birthday party or themed holiday party with them.
Diana's greatest joy was being a grandmother to her four grandchildren. While Diana's first love was her family, a close second was her love of traveling. She often said she was born "with wheels on her butt" and felt the most happiness seeing and exploring new places. Greg and Diana traveled to several countries, along with many places within the United States, but Ireland and London remained her favorite places on Earth. Diana's talents were many, she was an extremely gifted singer, had a great sense of humor, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend who loved to entertain.
Preceded in death by her parents Charles and JoAnn, she is survived by her husband of 40 years, Gregory Charles; daughters, Malarie Lynn Sneed and her husband, Garrett, and Makalah Lee Bivens and her husband, Christopher; son, Matthew Charles Nelson and his wife, Paige; 4 grandsons, Dimitri Nelson and Greyson, Mason, and Gibson Sneed; sister Valarie Lynn Zumbro and her husband Michael, niece, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 11am, Saturday, March 7th, at Verdigris United Methodist Church with lunch to follow. The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful love and support by Pastor Thomas and the members of Verdigris United Methodist Church.
