The incredibly long and happy life of Dossie Mae Hudson Madewell, 102, ended on Monday, January 18, 2021 at the Bella Rose Memory Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.  Dossie was the fourth daughter and seventh child born to Rufus Hudson and Pearl Culbertson Hudson on November 10, 1918 in Parthenon, Arkansas. She grew up on their family farm between Jasper and Parthenon with her brothers and sisters, attending Parthenon Academy from which she graduated in 1937. Dossie married Argus Madewell January 14, 1938. Upon Argus's return from WWII, they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Dossie gave birth to her two sons, Mike and Alan. The family eventually settled in Owasso, Oklahoma. They attended First Baptist Church of Owasso where Dossie earned the title of the oldest living member many years ago.

Dossie was an avid quilter, talented artist, and prolific gardener, but her favorite hobby was loving and talking to her huge family.  Argus retired from American Airlines in 1978 and the couple moved back to their beloved Arkansas to be close to their siblings.  After her husband's death, Dossie returned to the Tulsa area to be closer to her son Alan.  She is survived by her youngest brother, John Hudson of Fort Smith, Arkansas; son Mike Madewell and his wife Barbara; grandchildren Sarah Madewell and Steven Madewell; two great granddaughters, all of Wichita, Kansas; son Alan Madewell, his wife Vickye, and their son Sterling Sims of Tulsa. Dossie adored her special friend Roberta Wren as well as her many nieces and nephews.  Dossie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Argus; brothers Darrell Hudson, Coy Hudson, Fred Hudson and Troy Hudson; and sisters Jewel Bunch, Flora Villines, and Marie Fritz.

Dossie was extremely gracious, progressive, adaptable, and always, always positive. She didn't just talk the talk (and boy could she talk!) she walked the walk. The amazing Dossinator will be dearly missed. The family appreciates the compassionate and dignified care Dossie received from the staff, especially Jenifer, at Bella Rose Memory Center.  A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the Family Cemetery in Parthenon, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Dossie's memory to The Tulsa Community Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
