Edith Ann "Edie" Mitchell Gregory

Edith Ann Mitchell Gregory, 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Edie was born June 25, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Clifton Hoyt and Irene Rose (Flatt) Mitchell, the oldest of three children. She grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Classen High School in 1963.

Edie earned a degree in Microbiology from Oklahoma State University and a certificate in Medical Technology from the University of Oklahoma. Her career took her from the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine to the Los Angeles County Hospital, then to Springdale Laboratory in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

After moving to Muskogee, Oklahoma, Edie attended Tulsa University College of Law, graduating in 1987. She practiced law in Muskogee at Robinson, Locke, Gage, Fite, & Williams and Gage Law Firm. She finished her career as a Trust Administrator at AmeriTrust Corporation in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Edie was a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, Muskogee County Bar Association, and the Tulsa County Bar Association and was admitted to practice before The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. She was involved in her son’s schools, Service League of Muskogee, Oklahoma State Medical Association Alliance, American Medical Association Alliance, and Philanthropic Educational Organization.

Edie spent many years as a faithful congregant of various Baptist churches, including First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City and First Baptist Church of Muskogee. The last few years were spent as a television viewer of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian of Tulsa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Larry Mitchell. Edie is survived by her beloved son, Eli Gregory, his wife, Tonia, granddaughters Sloane, Claire and Paige; her sister, Linda Murphy (Jess), nephews Aaron Mitchell (Kristin), Dr. Brad Mitchell (Kara), Nathan Murphy (Tanna) and niece Sara Wagner (Mitchell).

Edie adored her family and friends, and her greatest joy was being a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Stanley’s Funeral Home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
