Edward "Eddie"
Norwood Dunham
Aug 14, 1959 — Sep 11, 2024
Tulsa
Edward "Eddie" Norwood Dunham, a beloved figure in his community and a remarkable businessman, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 65.
Eddie was born on August 14, 1959, in Tulsa to Stephen "Norwood" and Nina Dunham. A proud "west sider," he graduated from Webster High School in 1977. His youth was marked by a zest for adventure, as he engaged in wrestling, tennis, and motocross racing. Later, Eddie channeled his enthusiasm into flat track motorcycle racing and, more recently, took up golf amidst the stunning landscapes of Maui, Hawaii.
Eddie's entrepreneurial journey began early, starting at the age of 9 with rock tumbling and jewelry making. At 18, he purchased his older brother's striping machine and embarked on a business venture that would define his career. His drive and ambition led him from striping parking lots to seal coating, asphalt paving, and eventually to the establishment of an asphalt plant and trucking business, culminating in the creation of an asphalt oil terminal. His dedication to his work and the long-lasting friendships he forged within the industry stand as a testament to his character.
A 32nd degree Mason with the Sand Springs Masonic Lodge 475, Eddie was deeply involved in his faith, having been a member of the Carbondale and Sand Springs Churches of Christ, and more recently, Harvest Kumulani in Maui. His genuine nature and warm heart endeared him to all who knew him, and his ability to infuse humor into even the toughest situations left a lasting impression.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Theressa Dunham; his brothers, Steve Dunham and Stan Dunham; his daughters, Stephanie Byrd and Jennifer Dunham; and his cherished grandchildren, Nolan Byrd, Rosalie Byrd, and Clive Byrd. He also leaves behind step-daughters Stephanie Andre and Sara Johnson, step-son Steven Sexton, step-grandchildren Melanie Kent, Tyler Kent, Sergio Andre, Rylee Sexton, Tucker Sexton, as well as numerous other family members and friends. His faithful Jack Russell terriers, Norton and Trixie, will miss him dearly.
Eddie's life was a testament to love, community, and resilience. His spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will be cherished and celebrated, a beacon of strength and kindness for all who had the fortune to cross his path.
