Edward Glen Walker, 86, passed away Thursday August 4, 2022, in Tulsa OK. He was born October   10, 1935, in Fallon, NV, to Glen M Walker & Emma Hall Walker. During his childhood, the family moved to the Brush Creek area in AR, and Ed graduated from Springdale High School in 1953. He always enjoyed returning for class reunions throughout the years.

Ed married Barbara Jean Bullard in Fayetteville, AR, on October 5, 1957.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, one sister, Mildred Walker Young, and his wife of 43 years, Barbara Walker.

Ed is survived by his three children: Rhonda Walker of Meridian, Idaho. Forrest Glen Walker of Boulder, Colorado & Karen LeAnn (Darcy) Tate of Wells, Nevada; Four grandchildren:

Dani Rane` Walker-Novi, Kyle Wayne (Heather) Tate, Joseph Glen (RyLeigh) Tate, and Ruby Marguerite Walker; One great-grandson Wyatt James Tate; One sister Barbara Ann Arthurs; Several aunts, cousins, nieces & nephews.

Ed moved his young family to Carlin, NV in June 1965, where he started his career in mining as a laborer at Newmont Mining's Carlin Gold property. To support his family, he also worked nights and weekends at the Texaco gas station.

Throughout his life, Ed was an avid reader and had a natural desire for knowledge.  He began checking out books from the library on chemistry, metallurgy, and advanced mathematics; and very quickly he became a self-taught metallurgist. In less than 3 years' time he was promoted to Foreman and Chief Refiner at Carlin Gold. He was most proud of appearing in a National Geographic magazine cover article on Northern NV Gold Mining in May 1968.

Ed eventually became a Milling Superintendent and worked in several mines in Elko, Eureka, and Lander counties before retiring. He was an active member of the American Exploration and Mining Assoc. until his death. As one friend and fellow miner is quoted as saying: "Ed was one of the best bosses I have had. I pray that anyone that worked for him valued his skills. His teaching matched with his personality. He never gave up on anyone."

While living in Carlin, NV, Ed was a volunteer fireman and volunteer EMT for the ambulance crew. He was also PTA President at Carlin Combined Schools for several years. He loved camping, hunting and the outdoors. There are many years of family memories made while camping in the Lamoille Canyon and Jarbidge areas of Elko County, NV.

Every year Ed and Barbara took their family on an annual road trip from Nevada to NW Arkansas to visit friends and family. Ed always took the time to stop at many historical and tourist places to share with his children.

Ed will be buried next to his wife, Barbara, at the Elm Springs cemetery in Elm Springs, AR. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made, in Ed's memory, to Clarehouse Hospice House in Tulsa, OK: www.clarehouse.org , 918-893-6150
