Ellen Ledvina Garland, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, good neighbor and friend, departed this life on May 13th, 2018. Ellen was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on December 7, 1956 to Robert and Carolyn Ledvina. She spent her early childhood in Wisconsin and moved to Tulsa at age eight when her parents divorced. She made Tulsa her home, attending school, working, marrying twice, and raising her family. She went to Lee Elementary, Horace Mann Junior High and Central High School, graduating in 1975.
Ellen married her first husband in 1979. They had twin sons, Blake and Chris. Ellen married her second husband, Jerry Garland, in 1991, after a short courtship. Together they raised three boys, Blake, Chris, and Bernie, Ellen's step-son.
Ellen worked for Cohlmia's, Call Rape and the Tulsa County Victim-Witness Center, starting as receptionist and retiring as Director. She completed the Master Gardener Program, adding to her already-vast store of knowledge about plants.
Ellen was unfailingly kind, friendly and courteous to all. She was a lover of animals, a nurturer of plants, a creator of beauty. She was a patient and gentle soul, and she loved to laugh. She was a light in our lives.
Ellen is survived by her devoted husband of twenty-seven years, Jerry Garland; her sons Blake and Chris Hofstrom; her step-son, Bernie Garland; her sister Patricia (Gary) Himes; and her in-laws, Sue Majors and Robin and Trip Brander. Her father and mother preceded her in death.
A Celebration of Ellen's Life will be held at 2PM Saturday, May 19th, 2018 at the Stanleys Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ellen's memory to Season's Hospice (918-745-0222) as gratitude for their loving and compassionate care.
