Ernest H. McKee, 87, passed away on September 3, 2024.

He left this world surrounded by love, faith, and family, just as he had lived. Ernie's life was defined by resilience, hard work, and a heart that welcomed everyone he met.

Born on July 22, 1937, to Fayette Cole McKee and Harold Stevenson McKee, Ernie experienced the challenge of his parents' divorce at a young age. His mother's remarriage to Joseph Rogers Huffman introduced him to a new chapter of life, where he learned the values of grit, determination, and hard work from both his mother and stepfather. These lessons shaped him into the kind, yet strong, leader that he would become.

Ernie met the love of his life, Judith Ann Barchfeld, at just 14 years old. Their love grew over the years, and they were married on June 24, 1960, a union that lasted 62 beautiful years. Together, they built a loving family and made countless memories, especially through their travels and shared love for adventure.

Ernie's accomplishments in business were noteworthy, but it was his deep compassion and ability to make every individual feel seen and inspired that truly defined his career. He was admired as a boss who not only cared about his employees' work but also about their personal well-being.

Ernie began his career at US Steel in Lorain, Ohio, but while many of his peers were thinking about retirement by age 22, Ernie was just getting started. His ambition led him to pursue the path of an entrepreneur. He first moved to Pittsburgh, PA, and later to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he became the President of Flo-Bend at just 32 years old. In 1984, he ventured into ownership with his first business. Although his initial venture faced a few challenges, Ernie's perseverance paid off. In 1988, he acquired NMP, where he built a thriving company in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and led it with passion and dedication until his retirement in 2011. His business legacy remains an inspiring testament to his determination and leadership.

Ernie was devoted to his family and guided them with wisdom and faith. He led by example, showing his children and grandchildren the importance of integrity, hard work, and above all, kindness. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

An avid golfer, Ernie could often be found on the green, sharing his love of the sport with friends and family. He was also known as "Pop-Pop" to his beloved grandchildren, whom he adored and doted on at every opportunity. He was a proud member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity, a tradition he shared with both of his sons and all six of his grandsons. This bond spanned generations, creating lasting memories and strengthening family ties.

Ernie's heart for giving was as big as his business accomplishments. He dedicated much of his time and resources to supporting his church (Kirk of the Hills), Pathways, the Ronald McDonald House, Gateway Foundation, New Life Ranch, and children's hospitals. His focus was always on helping those in need, particularly children and families facing difficult times. Ernie's generosity left a lasting impact on countless lives, and his spirit of giving will be remembered by all who benefited from his kindness.

Ernie is survived by his children Mike (Janice), Matt (Samantha), and Emily (Kevin), all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his grandchildren Ernie (Taylor), Mark, Warren, Banks, Luke, John, Mary, and Caroline; and his great-grandson George. He is preceded in death by his wife Judy, his parents, Fayette and Joseph Huffman, his daughter Mary Kate.

Ernie's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His life was one of generosity, warmth, and faith, and he will be deeply missed.
