Eugene
Quaynor
Jan 1, 1999 — Sep 28, 2022
Tulsa
Eugene Quaynor, son of Daniel Quaynor and Wasila Haruna went to his heavenly home Wednesday, September 28. Eugene came to ORU as an undergraduate student in 2019 from the University of Ghana in West Africa, choosing ORU because he "wanted to grow in sports in a Christ-like way". He received his Bachelor of Arts in International relations in May of 2022 and was working on his Master of Business Administration in the Fenimore Fisher College of Business. Originally from Accra, Ghana, Eugene has four siblings, Leonard, Martin. Daniel Jr. and Princess Quaynor.
Known everywhere he went for his infectious smile, he was a beacon of light for the ORU community. While attending ORU, and being a student-athlete, Eugene worked full-time in the ORU security department to send money back home to his family in Ghana as a primary source of income.
On the soccer field, he was one of the team captains for the 2022 season. He helped the Golden Eagles have three of the winningest seasons in program history while winning two Summit League regular season championships. He recorded more than 3,300 minutes played as a Golden Eagle and captured four career goals, including two game winners. He was an All-Summit League player on the soccer field and in the classroom.
He was one of the hardest workers on the team and had the biggest heart. He truly lived out every core value in the men's soccer program. The ultimate value of sacrifice was exemplified by how he would serve anyone and everyone. He absolutely lived out, in the best way, what the ideal ORU student-athlete should be. He loved the Lord with all his hear and inspired everyone he came in contact with in a positive way.
