Evelyn P.
Gagnon Boling
d. Jan 11, 2024
Tulsa
Evelyn P. Gagnon Boling was born in West, Texas and died on January 11, 2024 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 97. Her long life was filled with loving family and meaningful friendships.
While growing up in the small Czech town of West, Evelyn enjoyed school activities and working at her parents' restaurant. After high school, Evelyn moved to nearby Waco, Texas to attend business school. It was at the sales office of her employer, Missouri Pacific Railroad, that she met Charles J. (Chuck) Gagnon who was working for Illinois Central Railroad. They married and moved to Dallas, Texas to begin what would become a long and loving marriage. Evelyn was a dedicated mother to two children, Gary and Carol. The family moved to St. Louis, MO and in 1963 moved to Tulsa, OK where Evelyn lived until her death.
As a young adult, Evelyn traveled to New York City with childhood friends. She often recalled this trip and the memories created when these three young women from a small Texas town arrived in such a big city. Evelyn and Chuck enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas where she found delight in playing nickel slots! They often took trips to visit family members and had wonderful family vacations with their children. Later in life, she went on a cruise which was a bit surprising given the fact she didn't know how to swim and was not sure she wanted to be on the water!
Evelyn was a homemaker, wife, and mother who kept an immaculate house and always made sure her children had a homemade breakfast before school each morning. Attending social activities, volunteering at school, and playing bridge with her friends kept Evelyn busy. She attended all of the extracurricular activities in which her children were involved. Summers were often spent taking Gary and Carol swimming.
Evelyn eventually returned to work as the Editorial Assistant at The Oil and Gas Journal. When Chuck's health started to fail, she chose to stay home with him. She was widowed in 1992 and remained at home where she and Chuck had raised their family. In 2000, she married Don R. Boling and began a new life. She and Don became early residents at Montereau in Tulsa. Evelyn loved her new home there and the friendships which were forged. Evelyn enjoyed participating in the Montereau fitness classes and afternoon coffee conversations. She and Don enjoyed attending various sporting events at The University of Tulsa. After Don's death in 2012, Evelyn continued to play bridge and be involved at Montereau until her failing eyesight brought an end to some of these activities. She always appreciated fine things. Her appearance was always perfection and her Thursday afternoons were always spent at the salon!
Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, William and Hattie Pareya; brothers and their wives, Reynold Pareya (Charlene) and William Pareya (Betty); Charles Gagnon, Don Boling, and son-in-law Robert N. Naifeh, Jr. She is survived by children, Gary Gagnon (Shannon) and Carol Naifeh; three grandsons, Nick Naifeh, Chuck Naifeh (Emily) and Jake Naifeh; and two great-grandsons, Nicholas Naifeh and Malcolm Naifeh, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A private family burial is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
