Obituary

Forrest Eugene "Foss" Landis of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024.  Forrest was born on March 6, 1924, to Roy and Catherine Landis in York, Pennsylvania. After serving 4 years in the US Navy during World War II as a radio telegraph operator on the USS Kendrick, he went on to study chemistry at Franklin & Marshall college in Pennsylvania.

After graduating with a degree in chemistry, Forrest began working for Cities Service Oil Company.  He remained there throughout his entire career.

Forrest was the proud father of Tim (Margie) Landis, Janine Landis Costa, Melanie Landis Bauista (Leo). After marrying Marcella Zengel, he went on to have two more children, Forrest Andrew Landis and Laura Landis Kendall (Khris).

Forrest and Marcy were married for 57 years and enjoyed many good memories together.  They were both active at the Assistance League of Tulsa volunteering their time and talents.  Forrest was also a beloved Sunday school teacher of 3-year-olds for many years at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church.  He was known for baking each child a special miniature birthday cake on their birthday.

After retiring from Citgo, Forrest spent his time building model airplanes, taking care of his lawn, doing crossword puzzles and enjoying his family.

Forrest was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Landis, father, Roy Landis, sister, Olga Rife, brother Phillip Landis, and brother Bryan Landis. He is survived by his wife, Marcy, as well as all five of his children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Assistance League of Tulsa, a non-profit organization that helps Tulsa Public Schools by providing clothes and shoes to children, by clicking here
