Obituary

Georgann Moncrief Wilson, 82, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, December 12, 2021. Born in McAlester, Oklahoma, Georgann graduated from the University of Tulsa with her B.F.A.. She went on to pursue her passion for teaching art at Tulsa Public Schools. Through her humor, creativity, and kindness, Georgann inspired countless students.

Most at home in nature, Georgann spent much of her retirement at the lake place she shared with her husband, Don Wilson. She was a talented artist and often drew inspiration from the beauty of the outdoors. Her knack for capturing the whimsical in the mundane extended far beyond her artwork; Georgann could turn a trip to the grocery store into a comedy special.

A member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Georgann exemplified the Chahta emphasis on faith, family, and culture. She attended Fellowship Congregational Church regularly and embodied her faith through her accepting and loving nature. Georgann's house was always the family gathering place and she helped craft memories full of love, laugher, and happiness. Her kindness and compassion extended beyond her immediate family and was a driving force in her volunteer work, often helping her church and the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless.

Georgann Moncrief Wilson is survived by her son, Scott Wilson, and his wife, Lydia; daughter Valerie Wilson; granddaughters Michelle and Annie Wilson; grandson, Stuart Wilson, and his wife Lindsay; great-grandchildren, Natalie, James, Stephen, Oliver, and Nolan; niece, Julie Loveland and her husband, Brian; great-niece Kristin Loveland; great-nephew, Kenny Loveland.
