Obituary

Gerald (Jerry) passed away peacefully from this life at 10:27p.m.

on 12/23/2020 in his home, surrounded by loving family.

He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on September 27, 1954 to parents

Willard and Darline Smith.

Jerry fought a hard battle with brain cancer the previous 14 months, with his wife

Kim Tatro-Smith at his side every minute of the way.  They started dating in the early 90's, and in addition to being husband and wife, were best friends and soul mates.

Jerry is survived by his son Jason and wife Nicole, grandchildren

Emily and Ethan of Longview, Texas, his son Justin Smith, grandson Kyle, and

great grandson Elliot of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Jerry's brother Steve Smith and his wife Sarah live in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Darline Smith, his brother

Sherman (Leroy) Smith and sister Cheryl Powell.

Jerry graduated from The University of Tulsa in 1977 with a Degree in

Bachelor of Science in Applied Math.  He excelled at most everything he set his mind to learning and doing, especially anything computer or technology related.  He was well known for "Jerry-rigging" anything broken, he always figured out a way to make things work.  Jerry retired from AT&T on December 30, 2019 as a Manager in OSP Planning and Engineering.

Jerry had a great sense of humor, and was friends with everyone he met.  He could walk into a room of strangers and within minutes everybody would be laughing and talking to each other.  When he retired, he was the President of the Oklahoma Chapter of the

AT&T Pioneers organization and volunteer network.

He loved his family and friends, and was always willing to help lend a hand.

During the past few years, Jerry's weekends mostly included gambling and attending VIP events and concerts with Kim at River Spirit, Hard Rock and Osage Casinos.  He played golf almost every weekend the weather allowed, and always watched and cheered for his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.  He also enjoyed bowling, having dinner with friends, going to the lake, and spending time with family.

The family had a private gathering for Jerry in January.
His Celebration of Life is being held on June 5, 2021.
