Gregory Paul Ohs was born on July 18, 1954, in Flint, MI, and died on June 8, 2024, in Tulsa, OK. He is survived by his loving wife Lynda of 45 years; his son David and daughter-in-law, Jill, and their three children; Landon, Carter and Hadley; his son Peter; his daughter, Mady, and son-in-law, Matthew, and their three children; Theodor, Edward and Anders; his siblings Victoria, Wendell, Kathleen, and Barbie, and their families.

Born to Paul Anders Ohs and Barbara Mae Nordstrom, he was the fourth of five children. He earned his undergraduate degree from Spring Arbor College in Michigan in 1976 and his MBA from Bowling Green State University in Ohio in 1996. He was a financial analyst at Marathon Oil Company in Findlay, OH, from 1980 to 2004 and at IBM in Tulsa, OK from 2004 until he retired in 2018.

Greg was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather affectionately known as Poppy.  He and Lynda enjoyed long walks and talks and shared in the joy of raising their three children, working together to create a loving home with nightly meals around the dinner table. He coached each one of his children in youth soccer, and later, took them on individual trips to the Rocky Mountains as teenagers to climb the fourteener Long's Peak.

He looked forward to creating new memories in quiet moments: Strong, hot coffee on the porch in the middle of winter, campouts in the playhouse over Christmas break, marble games like "Stinker" at Camp Tulsa, classical music like Boléro at the end of naptime, celebrations at film premieres, and countless card games. His first love was truly his family.  His second love was running, which became a significant part of his identity.  He started his training with Lynda in 1979.  From his Saturday morning runs with The Findlay Striders to being a pace leader for the Tulsa RunnersWorld, his love of running led to many meaningful friendships. He proudly logged annual birthday miles, turkey trots, and over the years, would go on to run and finish over 100 marathons. He inspired many friends and family members to start running journeys of their own.

Greg loved a good challenge and enjoyed documenting the details of adventures in his pocket notebooks. He traveled all over with Lynda, from Iceland to Hawaii to Alaska, as well as trips to multiple national parks across the country.  Whether Poppy was road tripping to Springboro, OH to attend grandkids' soccer games and track meets, or to Norman, OK to listen to Theo's funny jokes and carry the twins on hikes, joy was also found in the drive.

Greg was a skilled musician and loved how music could help define life's moments. Often times he would offer advice through a song lyric or YouTube music video. At sunset on military holidays, he could be heard playing Taps on his trumpet. He was an expert on the harmonica, and one of his proudest moments was playing the harmonica in his son Pete's feature film, Love and Work.

Greg was a man who was content with each day and grateful for his life. The details mattered. They still do. He is loved and missed, and we will remember him forever and always.

A Memorial Party for Greg will be held in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Circle Cinema. The gathering will begin at noon, with a film screening of Love And Work at 1pm, concluding at 4pm. Popcorn, snacks, & drinks will be provided.
