Henry Richard "Dick" Herrmann, Jr. was born on March 23, 1935, to Henry Richard and Beatrice Herrmann in Lansing, Michigan.  He passed away on August 27, 2021, at age 86 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

After graduating from Sexton High School in Lansing in 1953, Richard attended Michigan State University and earned a degree in Business Administration in 1957.  He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.  Richard served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1960, serving as an Executive Officer and Director of Information Services, and reaching the rank of Captain.

Richard began his career at Whirlpool Corporation in 1957 as a manufacturing trainee after graduation from MSU.  He received numerous promotions over the next several years and at age 28 became the youngest Branch Manager in Whirlpool history. His early achievements at Whirlpool continued, and in 1966 Richard was promoted to Whirlpool's corporate headquarters in Benton Harbor, MI.  In 1970 at age 35, he became the youngest executive at Whirlpool to assume nationwide responsibility. Richard's professional accomplishments at Whirlpool continued and he later served as Vice-President of Sales and Distribution and as Vice-President of Retail Marketing.

In addition to his accomplishments at Whirlpool, Richard was active in various business, community, and church organizations throughout his professional career, and was listed in "Who's Who in Finance and Industry." His thoughts on sales were featured in college textbook editions of "Personal Selling … Function, Theory and Practice," used at most major universities throughout the United States in the 1980's.

Richard was an antique car enthusiast from an early age and was nicknamed "Hot Rod Herrmann."  He loved to restore and show classic Shelby Mustangs and served as a judge at many car events through the years.  Richard also loved cooking and fine dining and he was ever curious about food preparation, presentation, and taste.  He meticulously planned dining events would delight in hearing details of other people's cooking and dining experiences.

Richard met and dated his wife Judith in 1954 while they were attending Michigan State University.  They crossed paths again many years later and were married at the Alumni Memorial Chapel of their alma mater Michigan State University on January 3, 1981.  Richard and Judith had a wonderful life together, filled with many friends and great times in St. Joseph, MI, on Sanibel Island, FL where they spent time in winters, and at their cottage on Lake Mazinaw in Ontario, Canada in the summers.  They shared a life full of love, happiness and laughter, many fun travels, and cherished their family and many friends together.  Richard & Judith's later years were spent in Tulsa where he continued his classic car business as well as his love of French antiques and other collectable home furnishings.

As an individual, Richard was a Prince of a Man.  He was very fair-minded and treated everyone he encountered with dignity and respect.  Richard's formula for success in both his business and personal life was being a good listener.  His ability to ask questions, listen well, weigh all the facts, and make good decisions led to trust and loyalty from his customers and colleagues.  Richard applied those same principles to his personal relationships, and he was well respected by all who knew him.

Richard is survived by his wife Judith Johnston Herrmann of Tulsa, OK; children Heidi (Michael) Merchant of St. Joseph, MI, Michael (Susan) Herrmann of Riverside, MI, Stephen Warren of Tulsa, OK, William Warren of Dallas, TX, Carolyn Warren of Dallas, TX, and John-Kelly (Lindsey) Warren of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren Melanie Merchant, Rebecca Merchant, Julianna Herrmann, Brittlyn Warren Bravo, Natalie Warren, Garrett Warren, Audrey Warren, Whitaker Warren and Sloane Warren; brother James Herrmann of Larkspur, CA, and sister Susan (John) Brewster of Okemos, MI.
