Jack L.
Adkins

Tulsa
Jack Adkins, of Tulsa, OK passed away on October 21, 2022.
Jack was born December 30, 1926 to Edward and Bertha Adkins. Jack grew up with his brother Richard on a dairy farm and graduated from Claremore High School in 1945. After graduation Jack enlisted in the United States Army and served till November 9, 1946. He was fortunate that World War II, came to an end during basic training, and served most of his time at the rank of Corporal working in logistics.
Upon returning from service in the Army, Jack attended classes at Tulsa University. During this time, he met and fell in love with Eileen Atkins. The similarity in their last names was his opening line to ask her out on their first date. Jack and Eileen were married in 1951. Jack worked for Texaco as a Landman and Eileen was a secretary for Petroleum Trading and Transporting Co.
Jack and Eileen would go on to have 4 children, Roger, Kevin, Stephen, and Gregory. Jack was a wonderful and devoted father, husband, teacher, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his boys and was intimately involved with each boy through the Boy Scouts of America. This time together with his boys greatly influenced each of them as he taught them about life and many life skills they would take away from these experiences. Jack also enjoyed reading, gardening, woodworking, and sailing, and looked for any opportunity to include his sons in these activities.
After 59 years of marriage, Eileen passed away in February 2011.
Jack remarried July 2012 to Jeannie Miller Egan and lived in Tulsa OK where they spent most of their time with family and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Richard Adkins. He is survived by his wife Jeannie of Tulsa, OK and sons, Roger and Michelle Adkins of Covington, LA., Kevin and Carolyn Adkins of Beaumont, TX., Steve and Kelly Adkins of Tulsa, OK., Greg and Lissa Adkins of Lafayette, LA.; 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
