Obituary

Rev. James T. White died at University Village on June 28 th , 2022. His memorial service will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday July 5 th at Tulsa Faith United Methodist Church located at 7431 E. 91 st Street.  He was born on the Parkhurst farm south of Prague Oklahoma on November the 4 th , 1929 to Laurence Albert White and Texas White (Underwood.) His parents and four brothers, Roy, Lester, Bob, and John preceded him in death. His father did farm worked and got into oil field work during Jim's first four years. At age five while his family lived in a tent and his father worked the oil fields of Kermit, Texas, Jim survived a rattlesnake bite. The family soon moved on to California in search of farm work. Eventually his dad landed a job with the California Orchard Company and Jim attended King City, California, schools from 1 st grade through high school graduation. In mid 1950 he married Iva Ethel Beymer in Prague, Oklahoma. He received his bachelor's degree from Oklahoma City University and his Master of Divinity in Dallas at Southern Methodist University.

Rev. James T. White served as a minister of the Gospel and a local pastor in various United Methodist congregations for over 40 years as part of the Oklahoma Conference including Arcadia, Grant, Bokchito. Talihina, Okeene, Wakita, Draper Street in Shawnee, Harrah, Sheridan Avenue in Tulsa, Vinita, Poteau, and Faith United Methodist Church in Tulsa. Upon retirement, Jim and Iva settled on acreage in Claremore to return to Jim's farming roots, but the work and Oklahoma heat drove them to relocate four years later to an apartment in Broken Arrow where they lived only when they were not out on the road in their RV. Their biggest single adventure was an RV drive from Tulsa to Alaska. They experienced a marvelous ten year run of fun traveling and playing games with their Good Sam's Club.

James is survived by his children Linda and Brad Stanton, Terry White, and John and Elizabeth White; and grandchildren Chris Stanton, Jennifer Morris, Peter White, Jason White, Sarah Kopke, Rebekah White, Jacob White, Louisa White, and Willa White.
