Joey (Joe) Thomas Anglin, Sr. passed from this life on November 29, 2022, at the age of 75 in Tulsa, OK.  Joe was born June 11, 1947, in Hominy, Oklahoma. He was the son of John Newton and Emily Theola (Pock) Anglin.  Joe grew up and attended school in Cleveland, Oklahoma, and graduated with the class of 1965.  While in high school he was a Golden Gloves Featherweight Boxer and worked for his brother Jay who ran a gas station in Cleveland.  After a frightening automobile accident, Joe decided to turn his life around and give it to the Lord.  He then attended Midwest Christian College, which later merged with Ozark Christian College, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 1970.  While he was at Midwest, he played basketball and was Midwest College Basketball Player of the Year.

While attending Midwest Christian College Joe married a fellow student, Susan Eleanor Ross, from Tuttle, OK on August 2, 1968, at Tuttle Christian Church.  Joe and Susie had their first child, Angela Sue, while at Midwest.  They had 2 more children, Amy Jo and Joey Thomas Anglin, Jr.

He later attended the University of Oklahoma and earned his Master's degree in Human Relations.  From then on, he forever became a dedicated Boomer Sooner fan!

After college Joe entered the ministry and served as pastor for numerous Christian Churches.  He started out at Ripley Christian Church and subsequently ministered at various Christian Churches throughout Oklahoma including Jones, Tecumseh, Shawnee, Collinsville, Tuttle, McAlester, and Cushing.

He started the church at Shawnee from the ground up and grew the membership significantly before moving on to Collinsville where he was able to grow the fellowship into having multiple services on Sundays.  From there he moved on to Tuttle and McAlester where he was blessed into having an overflow of worshipers attending his services. His main focus was to bring people in to become fully devoted followers of Christ.  Joe then felt called to work as a Chaplain for Valley Hope Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center in Cushing, OK.  He counseled many of the patients there on the spiritual aspects of the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.  After many years at Valley Hope, Joe had the opportunity to go to work as a Chaplain at Sojourn Care Hospice in Tulsa.  Hospice work was extremely rewarding for Joe.  He was able to be a Mentor to others for their role of becoming a Chaplain. Many people were blessed to have Joe as their Chaplain as he helped them to address their spiritual needs and prepare for their afterlife.  Joe worked in hospice for 10 years until he had to retire due to health reasons.

Joe married Catherine (Cathy) Ann (Fails) Hardin on November 21, 1990, at Sunnybrook Christian Church in Stillwater, OK with Tom Moll officiating.  Their marriage began as a blended family with Joe's son, Joey, and Cathy's children, Lindsay and Ty.

They celebrated 32 years of marriage 8 days prior to his death.

Joe loved anything peach-flavored and collecting guns and knives were his favorite hobby.  Anyone who knew Joe very well knew that he also loved eagles.  He had a large collection of sculptures, pictures, and eagle memorabilia.

Joe was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease about 18 years ago.  They were blessed in that the disease did not significantly progress until the last 4 years of his life.  He suffered from many complications of the disease, but he never complained about any of it, not even the pain, because that's the kind of man Joe was. He never wanted to be a burden.  He knew God had a plan for his life and this earth was not his final resting place as he lives on for eternity in Heaven.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Anglin, and his daughter, Angela Hice and her husband Jonathon Hice of Cushing, and son, Joey and his wife Kimberly Anglin of Perkins, stepdaughter Lindsay Ferrell and her husband Jimmy Ferrell of Tulsa, and stepson Ty Hardin and his wife Miriam Hardin of Verdigris.  Also 2 remaining siblings, Judy Breedlove and her husband Stan Breedlove of Cleveland and Janie Patterson of Sapulpa.  He leaves 9 grandchildren, Cylie, Harlie, Avery, Trystyn, Kinley, Taylon, Isaac, Grant, and Hadley.  Two great-grandchildren, Amy and Walker.   He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Amy Jo Schafnitt, and 2 older brothers, Jay and Jimmie Anglin.
