Kenneth Victor Powell, Jr. (Vic) was born July 21,1950, in Helena, Arkansas, the second son of Kenneth Victor Powell and Margie O'Neal Powell. His father had a career in the US Air Force which resulted in numerous moves throughout his childhood. Vic graduated from Edison High School in Alexandria, VA in 1968. Soon after, he Joined the United States Navy. He graduated from Navy Hospital Corpsman School in 1972 and spent time with the Marines before being transferred to Naval Station, Exmouth, Western Australia.

While in Australia, he met his first wife, Patricia "Tricia" Williams. They were married June 2, 1974. She preceded him in death in May of 2005. Together they had one son, Sean Victor Powell.

He returned to the States and attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Pharmacy, graduating with honors in 1982. He returned to the Navy and was commissioned as a pharmacist in September 1984. He spent a total of 32 years in the Navy, retiring in 2000 to live in Hope, Arkansas. He continued to work as a pharmacist at various hospitals until his full retirement in 2016.

Vic met Greer Fites in 2006 and they were married at All Souls Church in Tulsa on October 4, 2008. They spent thirteen happy years making a home and doing a great deal of travel, visiting six continents together.

Vic is known by his family and friends as someone who was generous with his time and talent. He had an ability to device a solution when one was needed. He was well-known for the detailed holiday yard displays he made; for his excellent woodworking skills; for his attention to detail; for his love of medicine and willingness to share that knowledge with others. He was an enthusiastic member of the All Souls Adult Choir and loved to sing with his beautiful tenor voice.

He is survived by his wife, Greer Fites of Tulsa; son, Sean Powell of Little Rock, AR; brother and sister-in law, Paul and Joyce Powell of Arkadelphia, AR; sister-in-law Jan Powell of Arkadelphia; nieces and nephew Megan Talley, Laura Powell, and Chris Powell. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Mike, and his parents.

Services will be held at All Souls Unitarian Church on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 4 PM and will be live streamed on the church's Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to All Souls Church or St. Jude's Hospital.
