Larry James Jenkins was born on July 11, 1951 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He graduated from Central High School, attended NEO A & M College and worked for Hickory House Properties as the caretaker of multiple properties including The Church Studio and Harwelden Mansion. A selfless caretaker who devoted his life to the happiness of those he loved, Larry always had a smile on his face and a song in his heart.
Larry was humble, deeply generous, and never knew a stranger. He was a gifted musician who shared his love of music with others and was always happy to give a music lesson to anyone who asked. Larry was well-read and shared his knowledge and passion for books, history, languages, and music with his friends and family. He encouraged others to further their education and shared knowledge, money, and other resources to ensure they achieved their full potential. He loved to work on cars and motorcycles and to spend time with his family, never failing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed one. His lifelong devotion to his family was a shining aspect of Larry's personality, as his kindness and generosity knew no bounds.
The great devotion and love that Larry showed those around him was extraordinary. He made a point to eat lunch with his son every weekday and helped take care of his yard and house without being asked. Larry was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle and friend. Seeing his family happy gave Larry great joy and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Larry James Jenkins passed on August 11, 2020 and is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Caroline Jenkins and grandson Arthur; his mother, Virginia Knox; sisters Teresa and Brenda and brothers Roger and Stephen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
