Obituary

Marilou Soanes Poore, age 94, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died on Monday, December 2, 2024.

Marilou was born January 22, 1930, in Buffalo, New York, the daughter of Royce Walter Soanes and Kathryn Livingston Moffett Soanes.

Marilou grew up in the town of Kenmore, New York, and graduated from Kenmore High School in 1947.

In August 1950, she married William H. Poore in the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Kenmore. Throughout their 71 years of marriage, they enjoyed sail boating and overseas travel. After moving to Oklahoma, Marilou obtained her pilot's license at age 57 and she was president of the Tulsa Chapter of the Ninety-Nines. Her husband, William, a pilot cadet in the Army Air Corps during World War II, was very impressed that Marilou scored higher than he did on the written pilot's exam.

A gifted artist, Marilou worked with various media including oil, watercolor and ceramics that she enjoyed well into her nineties.

Marilou was a long-time member of St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church where she served as Stephen's Minister.

Marilou is survived by her son, Robert H. Poore and wife, Catherine O'Leary; daughter, Jeanne M. Poore Argomaniz and husband Joseph; grandsons Ryan J. Argomaniz and wife Lana, and Jonathan L. Argomaniz, and great grandsons, Greyson and Aiden Argomaniz, along with her brother Royce W. Soanes, Jr., and wife Nancy.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Zarrow Pointe and Miller Hospice for their excellent care of Marilou. There truly are angels among us.

A private family funeral service will be held at a later date.
