Obituary

Marilyn Bridges Galbraith was born on June 24, 1928, at Morningside Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

She spent her early childhood in the home her father built across the street from Eliot Elementary School. (All of her children and many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren also attended Eliot). Later she moved with her family to a new home on 31st Street where she played with her brothers and entertained her friends until her graduation in 1946 from Central High School.

In the fall of 1946 she began her studies at the University of Oklahoma where she welcomed the love of her life, Bill Galbraith, home from the Army Air Force.  She became a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.

Marilyn and Bill returned to Tulsa and were married in her home on 31st Street in 1948.

She devoted her life to her family, raising four adoring children.

When her children were grown, she and Bill enjoyed travel, sailing and playing golf together. Soon they began to welcome a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marilyn was a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation and a longtime member of Boston Avenue Methodist Church.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Marion Francis Bridges and Helen Blevins Bridges, her brother William Blevins Bridges, her daughter Ronda Galbraith Ratcliff, and her beloved husband of 67 years, William Daniel Galbraith.  She is survived by her brother Robert Burris Bridges and his partner Bernard Allen Jones of Kansas City, MO, her daughter Linda Galbraith of Tulsa, OK, son Joseph Francis Galbraith of Tulsa, OK, and her son William Bridges Galbraith and his wife Judy Bussell Galbraith of Gaithersburg, MD.

She welcomed 12 grandchildren: Sherri Walker, Lindsay Nie of Dover, MA, Lisa Ratcliff and Jill Millaway of Tulsa, OK, Charissa Galbraith of Denver, CO, Tiffany Galbraith, Nathan Galbraith, Robert Galbraith and Michael Galbraith, all of Gaithersburg, MD, Laura Galbraith of Boston, MA, Daniel Galbraith of Falls Church, VA, and David Galbraith of Charlottesville, VA.
