Obituary

Marlyn (Marly) Oliver passed away on February 19, 2019 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.   Born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 15, 1927 to her parents, Ellsworth and Cora Price Obourn, Marly grew up in Webster Groves, MO. with her siblings, Robert, Malcom, and Norma. Marly is survived by her son Mike and wife Bettie, daughter Cindy Henry Drake and husband Gene, son Dan and wife Rita, and son Tim, and her grandchildren John and Sam Henry, Brax Oliver, Marly Oliver, Samantha Hernandez and husband Christian,  Christina Sazama and great grand daughter, Lina Hernandez.  Proceeded in death by her husband of 52 years Robert Lee Oliver, brother Robert Obourn MD and wife Deborah of Topeka KS and brother Malcolm Obourn of Vienna, IL.   She is also survived by her sister, Norma Harrington, who resides in Denver, CO, as well as several nieces and nephews and their families.

For fourteen years Marly worked for Tulsa Public Schools as a Volunteer Specialist with the Business/Community Resource office at the Education Service Center, followed by decades of volunteer work in the community.  She was active in PTA, Campfire Girls, Cub Scouts, Margaret Hudson Program, local Republican Party, member of the First Ladies of Oklahoma, Oklahoma Federation of Republican Women, and President of Lynn Lane Republican Women's Club. Her community work also included serving as a docent with the Tulsa Historical Society. In her twenties Marly attended Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois and worked for a period at Standard Brands, Inc. in Chicago.

Although Marly worked outside the home for many years, her greatest achievement was her family. She loved being a mother, homemaker, and grandmother, and she was a loyal neighbor and friend, enjoying her ladies' bridge club, reading, travel and water aerobics.  Ask anyone who knew Marly about her personality and the response would be the same: "She was the nicest, sweetest, person."
