On November 30th, 2022, Meg Simpson Sterling died at the age of 90. Meg was born in 1932, in Chicago, Illinois. She and her parents, Alta and Charles Simpson, soon moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she attended Monte Cassino and Holland Hall schools. Meg later attended Mount Vernon College, in Washington D.C., and Rollins College, in Winter Park, Florida, where she pursued a liberal arts and fine arts education. She later married and started her own family.

For Meg, motherhood, art, music, and sports were passions she held throughout her life, and she fused them together beautifully. She was an avid learner, filling the home with art, books, and music. She drew and painted tirelessly, and played the piano with the vigor and passion of the Romantic composers, her favorites. She enjoyed swimming and was an avid tennis player, and she shared this with her family, always taking her children to parks for regular play.

Meg cared deeply about helping others and worked in many capacities in Tulsa, including as a docent at Philbrook Museum of Art; as a volunteer with Children's Medical Center; as a member of the Assistance League of Tulsa, and as an art instructor at The Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges, where her heart landed for many years and she received a volunteer of the year award.

Friends, family and acquaintances cherished Meg, and she cherished them. She has always been described as vivacious, loving, unique, artistic and talented, generous and kind; interested in so many subjects that she could enthusiastically talk to anyone and everyone she met; and humble, too—but also the life of the party, without a doubt. She lived a full and happy life and always shared her joie de vivre with everyone she encountered. She will be greatly missed, but her extraordinary and buoyant spirit will last eternal.

Meg is survived by her two children — Rhonda S. Davis, Richard S. Sterling and his wife, Jaimie; three adored grandchildren—Justin St. John, Dustin A. Davis (wife, Carolyn), and Steven St. John (wife, Kasey); four truly great grandchildren, and many loving friends. She is predeceased by two children—Valerie S. St. John and Charles A. Davis; one grandchild, and many close and adoring friends over her wonderful life.
