Oscar Eugene Greenlee, age 100 years, of Tulsa, OK passed away April 16, 2019 at 7:00 am at Oklahoma Methodist Manor (OMM), Tulsa, OK. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Friday, April 19, 2019 at Christ United Methodist Church, Tulsa, OK, 3515 S. Harvard Ave. Visitation will not be held.
Mr. Greenlee was born May 1, 1918 in Texarkana, TX.
Oscar grew up on his family farm near Hitchita, OK and graduated from Hitchita High School in 1936. He studied at the Haskell Institute and received his Associate's Degree in 1938. Upon graduation, he worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Sells, AZ. He served on active duty during World War II as a captain in the US Army from 1941to1945. He later retired as a major from the US Army Reserves. His service to the country continued during his 27 years working for the Veterans Administration in Human Resources and retired as Chief of Personnel from the VA Hospital, Hines, IL.
He married Eugenia C. Danner in 1945 and had 4 children: William E. Greenlee, wife Amelia Greenlee; Richard A. Greenlee; Anne R. Greenlee; Linda Greenlee Sturtevant, husband Mark Sturtevant. In addition to his 4 children, he is survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
In 2002, he married Julia Ann Hope following the death of his first wife. They enjoyed 16 wonderful years together as residents of OMM.
Oscar was active in the Checotah Masonic Lodge #86. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He volunteered for the OK Historical Society and Friends of the Battle of Honey Springs. His hobbies included fine wood working and painting in oils, acrylics and watercolors.
Survivors include his wife Julia, his step-daughters Kathey Lynn Schuster (husband Stephen Schuster) and Jody Rae Yarbrough, one granddaughter, Aundrea Coates (husband Steve Coates) grandson Christopher Dare Yarbrough (wife Chaundra Yarbrough).
Memorial contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to OMM Community Building Fund or Christ United Methodist Church, Tulsa, OK.
