Paula Jean Dickey Stewart, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on July 9, 2019.  She was born on April 4, 1933 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Roy and Lois Dickey and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1951.

Paula then moved to Lawton, Oklahoma and began working at Fort Sill Army base.  This began her civil service that she eventually retired from after 25 accumulated years of service in 1991.  Her career and her passions were her family and raising her kids.  She married Bill Stewart on June 10th, 1961 and they were married 52 years until he passed in December 2013.  They had 2 children, Martin and Gayle, and she was devoted to them and her eventual grandchildren.

She served on the PTA, was a Den Mother, a Girl Scout leader, a VBS volunteer for many years and attended every sporting event, club meeting, school play, choir performance and anything to watch her children.  She always had homemade cookies in the cookie jar and always had "Paula's Punch" ready.  She and Bill joined Southern Hills Baptist church in October of 1968, and she was a member until her death.  Paula loved her Sunday school class and her Widow Group that she joined after Bill's death.

Paula is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lois Dickey; husband, Bill; and Bill's daughter April Stewart Highland.  She is survived by her son Martin Stewart and wife Stacy; daughter, Gayle Taylor and husband Glen; grandchildren, Will Taylor, Allie Taylor, Gerrit Taylor and Callea Stewart and her mother, Cathy Matlock and her son, Corbin Matlock; brother, Ray Dickey of Arlington, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  She had so many close friends…to know Paula was to love her.

She was an amazing wife, mother, friend and follower of the Lord.  Her faith never wavered even when Parkinson's began to take over her life.  Paula's family would like to thank all of those who loved her, for visiting her and continuing to be present in her life even up to the last days.  A special thanks to the wonderful people of Comfort Keepers who took such amazing care of our mother for almost three years and to Rose Rock Hospice who cared for her the last 5 months.
