Paulette Gwen Pogue passed away on January 23, 2023, leaving the world shocked and saddened by her sudden passing. Born to Gale and Pauline Braden on May 17, 1938, Paulette grew up in Drumright and graduated from Drumright High School in 1956. The very same year she began classes at the then Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. This moment would shape her life in unexpected ways and give her, not only a best friend, but a spectacular group of lifelong friends.

After graduation in 1960, Paulette embarked on a new adventure as a teacher at Monroe Junior High School in Tulsa. This was another moment that would change her life forever. More enduring friendships were formed including a 63 year friendship full of love and support, fun and fishing, musicals, concerts and sporting events. It was also at this time that Paulette began to earn respect in her professional life from students and teachers alike.

1964 would prove to be another turning point in Paulette's life as this was the year she would meet her future husband and lifelong love, Dennis Pogue. The couple became engaged in June of 1965 and married the same month the following year.

In March of 1969, a daughter was born and with her arrival Paulette's world was once again transformed. A child brought with her all kinds of new challenges. After struggling with her weight since she was a child, Paulette joined Weight Watchers and set herself on a new path. Fast forward to 1980 and Paulette joined Weight Watchers as a staff member and began her career as a meeting leader and eventual program coordinator. Paulette would spend 15 years as part of the Weight Watchers organization and the rest of her life living the program.

As her work life came to an end Paulette began to look for new passions and places to make use of her talents. This time it was in her Church, the Walk to Emmaus and her Alma Mater that she would begin her volunteer life. Old friendships would be strengthened and new bonds would be made. Til the last, her calling remained the same. To teach. To make people's lives better. To love. To laugh. To share her love for drama and the arts and, above all else, to sing! Always to sing and give things a little dramatic flair.

Now, lights out. Curtain closed.

Paulette is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dennis Pogue, daughter Pamela and wife Jeryldine, step-grandchildren Rachel and Jacob, children of the heart, Kimberly Golding Waldrep and Kevin Golding, close friend Patricia Smith, her nieces and nephew, godchildren and many wonderful friends and sisters of her heart.

Paulette was proceeded in death by her parents, Gale and Pauline Braden; a sister Paula, sister of the heart, Carol Jean Souvignier and countless alumni sisters.

In place of flowers, donations may be made to the Harvard Avenue Christian Church Music Fund or the Paulette Braden Pogue Alumni Scholarship at the University of Sciences and Arts of Oklahoma. The graveside service will be held at Highland Cemetery, Oilton, Oklahoma at 10 am. A memorial service will be held at Harvard Avenue Christian Church in Tulsa, Tuesday, January 31 ^st at 2 pm. Attendees are asked to wear scarves or a lapel pin reflective of Paulette's love of flair.
