Ralph R. Conner, radio and television newsman and public school teacher, was born to Benjamin C. and Blanche Robinson Conner in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Nov, 9, 1922.

In World War Two he served with the 69th Infantry, and the 28th Infantry in the European theater. After the war he completed his education at the University of Tulsa and settled in Colorado Springs in 1948 becoming News Director and Program Director at KVOR, and became the area's first television News Director when KKTV went on the air in 1952. In 1955 he moved into School Dist. 11, teaching at West Junior, Colorado Springs, Wasson, Mitchel and Colorado high schools. He took occasional leaves of absence to travel in Europe. He spent summer in India as a Fulbright scholar. He retired in 1982.

In retirement he was a charter member of the Old Colorado City Historical Society, serving 12 years as secretary or treasurer. He was an honorary life member of the El Paso County Pioneer Association, where he served eight years as secretary. He was a member of the Fulbright Association, and of the Crossed Sabers Society of New Mexico Military Institute.

He is survived by a niece and two nephews. A brother, James, died in 1991. Memorial contributions can be made to the El Paso County Pioneers' Association, or a charity of one's choice.
