Obituary

Raymond W. Dotson was born in Moore, Oklahoma to Myrtle and Thomas Moore on Myrtle's 38th birthday, June 14th, 1922.  He and his mother moved to Tuttle, Oklahoma where he graduated from Tuttle High School in 1940.

He served his country in the US Army as part of the occupation forces in Germany and later saw combat as an artillery spotting pilot in the Korean conflict.

After graduating with a degree in General Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1947 he worked for Cities Service Oil Company (Citgo) in Bartlesville.  He married Phyllis Jean (Dale) in 1957.  They subsequently lived in Shreveport, Louisiana; Berkeley Heights, New Jersey; and Buenos Aires, Argentina before moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1966.

He was active with Troop 16 at New Haven Methodist, sharing the love of scouting with his sons and, in particular, several backpacking trips in Philmont Ranch, New Mexico. After retirement Raymond and his wife enjoyed many Elderhostel trips to locales as remote as Antarctica. Closer to home, he watered newly-planted trees in the school yard of Nimitz Middle School and also helped with keeping the school grounds and Manion Park clean.  He was an active ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out) for many years.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Phyllis. He is survived by his son Bryan of Houston, Texas, his wife Jaqueline, and their daughters Melanie and Lauren; and son Neil of Kingsport, Tennessee, his wife Patricia, and their children Joseph, Daniel, and Elizabeth (husband William Marrs), great-granddaughter Genny Rose Marrs; and several nephews and nieces, with niece Marsha Grindle and her husband Scott of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He will be remembered as a loving, and caring son, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather.
