Ricky Alan Poston, 70, passed from this life on Monday October 21, 2024, at his home in Tulsa, OK. He spent the last days of his life surrounded by friends, family, and loved ones. He was born in Tulsa, OK on April 22, 1954, to Bob and Phyllis (Reese) Poston. He graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1972. Ric opened his first flower shop in Jenks, OK in the spring of 1973. The original location of Poston's Florist was a repurposed gas station, that over time Ric expanded to include a multi-level retail space. He was a pioneer in his own right, never afraid to take risks and follow his heart.  Ric was a proud father to Heather Dawn born in 1975, and Chad Alan born in 1977. In 1983, Ric started training show horses in addition to his floral and interior design business. He was able to work his way up, training several National Champion and World Champion Morgan Horses over the years.  Ric's passion for horses and civic responsibility lead him to start the Tulsa Morgan Horse Extravaganza in 1995. This was a regional Morgan Horse Show that would benefit local charities and organizations in the Tulsa area. In 1999, Ric began competing in local leather events to raise awareness for the HIV/AIDS community. He would win the title of Mr. Tulsa Leather 1999 and go on that year to win Mr. Oklahoma Leather 1999. He would later have an opportunity move to Colorado to continue his horse training career, alongside his modeling and community awareness events. While in Colorado he would find a new career path that would reignite his passion for life and adventure, he would become a firefighter. His firefighting career would last several years, serving Elbert and the surrounding areas. He would incorporate his firefighting and modeling careers when he found himself as a model in the 2014 Colorado Firefighter Calendar, benefiting Children's Hospital Colorado. In 2015, Ric would compete at the International Mr. Leather contest in Chicago, taking his message of family and awareness nationally. After a series of heart attacks in 2014 and 2015, Ric decided to sell his ranch and hang up his firefighting gear. He would return to Oklahoma in 2017, along with his partner David "Colt" Stone. Ric returned to his floral and decorating roots opening the House of Poston, a floral and interior design company. He fell in love with Hawaii and the Aloha spirit, even creating a Hawaiian oasis in their backyard, complete with a Tiki Bar.

Ric loved life, family, his dog Noel, and his husband Colt. He was passionate about life and had a way of creating something out of nothing.

Ric was preceded in death by his mother Phyllis Poston and her partner Shirley LaGaza, of Wagoner, OK; brother Terry Poston-Bobier, of Charlotte, NC.

Ric is survived by his husband David "Colt" Stone, of Tulsa; daughter Heather Johnson and husband Brett, of Sand Springs, OK; son Chad Poston and wife Michelle of Talala, OK; grandson Dylan Dillard of Bixby, OK; granddaughter Makenzie Dillard of Broken Arrow, OK; granddaughter Presley Dillard of Owasso, OK; grandson Chase Poston of Talala, OK; and grandson Noah Poston of Talala, OK; many other relatives and friends.

Ric's Life Celebration Open House will be held in the Club Room at Stanleys Funeral Home, 3959 E. 31st Street, Tulsa, OK 74135 on Wednesday November 6th, 2024, at 1:00-3:00 P.M.
