Dick Lieser, 86, died peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 15, 2022, following a brief period of illness. Dick was born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 6, 1936, to Robert and Claire Lieser, the second of three sons. He graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1954, Westminster College in 1958, and obtained an M.B.A. from University of California, Berkeley, in 1963. The entirety of Dick's career was spent in the computer and data analytics industry, working for Lawrence Radiation Laboratory, Atlantic Refining Company, Sinclair Oil Corporation, and American Airlines, before becoming an entrepreneur and opening several businesses of his own. He retired from his last company, Personal Computer Rentals, in 2001.

While working in California after college, Dick was reintroduced to Patricia Roberts, an elementary- and high-school classmate from Tulsa. After a whirlwind romance, they married on December 27, 1960. Trish and Dick had a wonderful life together, raising two children, playing tennis at the Tulsa Tennis Club, sailing at Grand Lake, organizing group outings to OK Mozart concerts in Bartlesville, skiing in Colorado, and attending their grandchildren's many events and activities. After losing their son Rich in 1999, Dick and Trish turned their grief into compassion and action, helping to lead a grief group for other parents facing unimaginable loss.

The love of sports, the outdoors, and music were constants throughout Dick's life. He played tennis in high school, college, and during his time as an enlisted soldier at Fort Jackson in South Carolina, where his base commander discovered Dick's prowess on the court and used him as a surprise ringer during matches with other army brass. Always a lover of good music, Dick in his later years played the bass guitar for the band Shades of Gray, named for the hair color of its musicians, and spent many evenings with his bandmates entertaining others with great jazz.

Dick was a caring and compassionate man who went all in for the people he loved and the causes he valued. He cared deeply for his church community at All Souls Unitarian Church, and for his beloved alma mater, Westminster College, giving both institutions important gifts of his time, expertise, and resources. Dick became an attentive and tender caregiver for Trish when she began to struggle with poor health, finding ways to continue to do all the things they loved without missing a beat. He was bereft following her death in December of 2021.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents Claire and Robert Lieser; his wife of 61 years, Trish Lieser; son Rich Lieser; brother Robert Lieser, Jr.; and sisters- and brothers-in-law Carolyn and Gene Schutze and Diane and Bill Johnson. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Beth and Keith Goddard; grandchildren Jackson, Ellen, and Charlie Goddard; brother and sister-in-law Tom and Evelyn Lieser; nephew Bob Lieser; and numerous other relatives whom he loved and cherished greatly.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022, at 1:00pm at All Souls Unitarian Church. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in his memory to Family & Children's Services ( www.fcsok.org ) or to another organization making a difference in the Tulsa community.
