Richard Page Walker died Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at the age of 96. Richard, also known as Dick, was born November 26, 1925 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Thomas Anderson Walker and Dorothy (Turner) Walker. He had one younger sister, Carol (Walker) Evans Fisher. In 1943, after graduating from high school in Bartlesville, he went into a Navy training program and was sent to the University of Texas in Austin for pre med school. By the time he finished pre med school the med schools were full so he decided to go to dental school. Before attending Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, he was sent to the Naval Hospital in Corpus Christi where he worked as a dental assistant.

While attending Washington University, he met the love of his life, Mary Lou Kamuf. Mary Lou was a secretary at the dental school and rumor has it they met in the darkroom while developing x-rays. After graduation dental school in 1949, he married Mary Lou and the newlyweds moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where Richard worked as a civilian dentist for the Army Dept. at Sandia Base. It was while in Albuquerque that their first daughter, Robin, was born. He soon joined the Army and was sent to Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. They lived on the base and enjoyed going every weekend to Juarez, Mexico. At the time, they found it to be a pleasant, peaceful city on the border. After the Army, they decided to move to Tulsa, Oklahoma where two more children were born, a son Mark and a daughter Mary Gaye. Richard practiced dentistry in Tulsa until he retired at the age of 70.

Over the years, Richard had many hobbies. He loved the water. He owned several sailboats and kayaks. He built a sailboat and a couple of kayaks. He was a member of the Sequoyah Yacht Club. He was into windsurfing for awhile. Richard and Mary Lou spent time on several Caribbean Islands and sailed to the Virgin Islands with friends from the sailing club.

Richard was a humble man and was known for his dry sense of humor. He had a love for music and played flute in the Tulsa Community Band, viola in the orchestra and string bass with a blue grass group. He was an amateur radio operator; loved to paint; had a potter's wheel and kiln for making ceramics; had a darkroom where he developed his film; was a bee keeper; could ride a unicycle; played golf; loved YouTube; taught English to Spanish speaking adults at the library and volunteered at the Tulsa Zoo.

Richard and Mary Lou loved to travel. Mary Lou fell in love with Venice and they traveled to Italy 5 times. They were charter members of the Tulsa International Folk Dance Group where they folk danced every Friday night for over 40 years. They were members of All Souls Unitarian Church. Richard was a member of the Tulsa Volkswagen Club.

Richard was predeceased by his parents, Thomas Anderson Walker and Dorothy Walker; his wife of 65 years, Mary Lou Walker; son Mark Thomas Walker; sister Carol (Walker) Evans Fisher of Bellingham Washington; niece Jane Jermy of Indianola, Washington. He leaves behind his daughter Robin Walker of Tulsa; daughter Mary Gaye Fox of Tulsa; grandson Michael Fox (Elizabeth) of Tulsa; great grandson Eli Fox of Tulsa; nephew Thomas Evans of Anchorage, Alaska; nephew Paul Evans of Orcas Island, Washington; best friend Gail Harris of Tulsa; and his faithful dog Buddy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
