Obituary

On Sunday, September 27, 2020, Roy Lynn Taylor, 63, passed away at his home in Catoosa, OK.

Roy Lynn Taylor was born in San Angelo, Texas on December 8, 1956 to Peter Abraham and Thelma Kate (Mitchell) Taylor. Roy spent his childhood in San Angelo, with his mother Kate and sisters Nita and Jenny. He graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1975. Always a hard worker, Roy's work ethic was in part inspired by Kate, a single mother of three. As a self-employed hairdresser, Kate always had a customer in need of help, so most of Roy's summers, as a teenager, were spent as a ranch-hand on cattle ranches and pig farms. At the age of 17 he started working HVAC and continued that until shortly after he moved to Oklahoma.

In December of 1977, Roy made the journey to Oklahoma to live with his sister Nita and her husband Jim. Roy worked hard and made a life for himself in Oklahoma and it was not long until he met the love of his life. On June 26, 1981 he married Tommie Jean Curtis, after knowing each other for only 6 weeks. The two started an asphalt business and not long after a family, having 3 boys: Trevor Thomas, Cole R.L., And Dalton Glen.

A true jack of all trades, Roy was good at anything he did and could figure out most anything he set his mind to. His expertise and true love of work, however, was Asphalt. Nobody knew it better than Roy, nobody. He enjoyed playing golf and enjoyed watching it even more, he always kept the weekend of the Master's free so he could watch all the coverage. He was also a shark at pool and always willing to make a bet, and very rarely he had to make the payment. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and knew exactly where he would be when his journey came to an end.

Roy was preceded in death by his father Peter Abraham Taylor, mother Thelma Kate (Mitchell) Taylor Garner and son Cole R.L. Taylor. He is survived by his son Trevor & Valerie Taylor, son Dalton & Brittany Taylor, their mother Tommie Jean Goodale, grandson Thomas Cole Taylor, sister Nita & Jim Eardley, sister Jenny Singleton, nephews Josh, Dan and Mitch Eardley, and numerous great nephews and nieces.
