Obituary

Scott Shea Simpson, "Shea", passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024. He was 50 years of age. He is survived by his parents, Robert and Marcella Simpson, and his brothers, Cory and Robbie. Shea grew up in Tulsa graduating from Bishop Kelley High School. He attended Baylor University but transferred to Drury University where he graduated with a double major in Biology and Criminology. He also played tennis at Drury. After graduating, Shea's love for tennis brought him back to Tulsa where he earned a graduate assistant position with the University of Tulsa women's tennis team. Shea's passion was tennis and coaching tennis. Initially admitted into the University of Tulsa Law School he transferred into TU's Collins College of Business studying towards an MBA. After a year in the program Shea knew his true focus was being on the tennis courts coaching so he withdrew from the graduate program and became the full time assistant women's tennis coach at TU in 1999. Over Shea's nine years as the assistant he coached teams to 2 conference championships and 4 NCAA appearances. He was also named the 2001 Regional Assistant Coach of the Year. Shea's passion for recruiting future student athletes brought him across the world. His zeal for adventure and his larger than life personality were truly remarkable. If you ever met Shea you will forever remember him. He will be dearly missed. Shea was Life itself.

A private service to celebrate Shea's life will be held Friday Sept, 6, 2024 at Stanley's Funeral Home in Tulsa.
