Obituary

Shannon Rutherford Martin was born January 6, 1971 to Lonnie Douglas Rutherford and Iona Loree Rutherford (Parks) in Waxahachie Texas.

Shannon was raised in Oklahoma.  She lived in many towns across the state following her father's ministry. Her path eventually led to Morenci, AZ when she would graduate high school where she enjoyed her time as a successful basketball player.  After one year in college in Arizona she transferred back to Oklahoma and graduated from East Central University where she enjoyed her friends, cheerleading, and music.

After working in Oklahoma City and suffering from the effects of an auto accident, she decided to further her education in chiropractic studies so that she could help others in pain.  She graduated from Parker University in Dallas in 1999 with her Doctorate of Chiropractic, then returned to Oklahoma.

She founded and eventually sold her successful business Downtown Chiropractic, providing help and aid to many in need.  She turned her sights on raising her two boys Baker and Deacon. Shannon loved her animals, painting, the lake, and boating.  Her faith in Jesus Christ was her anchor in her battle with breast cancer that she finally succumbed to.

Shannon is survived by her husband D. Mitchell Garrett Jr., her sons Baker and Deacon Martin, her parents Lonnie and Iona Rutherford, her sisters, August Calvert, fiance Mike Fisher, and Crystal and husband Shawn Keifer, her aunts and uncles Larry and Donna Rutherford, Stan and Sheryl Rutherford, Harvey and Lynette Rutherford, Larry and Marie Oliver, Linda Luthye, Thomas and Michele Parks, Mark and Cathy Parks, Linda Shands, David and Joey Wycuff, and David and Kristen Parks. She has many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, as well as brothers and sisters in-laws that will miss her dearly.
