Sharon Kay Shurley, 77, of Tulsa, OK, sadly passed away on May 17 ^th , 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Sharon was born on January 28 ^th , 1945 to C.C. and Lena Shurley in Wewoka, OK. She graduated from Wewoka High School in 1963 and moved to Tulsa, OK shortly thereafter where she lived for the rest of her life. 25 years after graduating high school, Sharon decided to go back to school and graduated with a degree in English from the University of Tulsa in 1992. She soon went to work for the Department of Human Services as a child welfare social worker and retired from the state in 2007.

Sharon had several hobbies throughout her life. She quilted, knitted, cross-stitched, painted, and liked doing home improvements around her house. She loved driving around town in her red Corvette. She also enjoyed watching old reruns of Ozzie & Harriett and the Andy Griffith Show and listening to Jack Benny.  Besides her children, her biggest love were her animals. She used to tell the story of how, as a child, she would spend her time caring for all the neighborhood cats. Even to the end she could still remember her grandmother yelling at her "Sharon, stop kissing that cat!" Throughout her life Sharon took in and cared for dozens of cats (her favorite was Seda Bill), several dogs (her favorite was Hailey), an owl, a skunk, two rabbits, and even a pygmy goat that she named 'Baby Goat'.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, C.C. and Lena, and her brother, Bill. She is survived by her children, Tony, Robin and Van, and her granddaughters, Sophie and Charlie.

A reception is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, June 10 ^th at Stanleys funeral home located at 3959 E 31 ^st ST, Tulsa, OK 74135 . In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to the ASPCA.
