Sheena Kaur Grewal April 17, 1984 - October 26, 2021.
Sheena was a graduate of Cascia Hall Preparatory School and followed to earn degrees in English, History and Poetry from Georgetown University, where she was honored as a Lannan fellow in poetry. She then went on to complete a masters in urban planning from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
Sheena loved adventure. She traveled the world, having studied a semester in Florence, backpacked Europe with her brother, climbed Machu Pichu with her mother and spent a summer at the Aurobindo ashram in Pondicherry, India. She even spent a semester kayaking and backpacking the Yucatan peninsula with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS).
She had a passion for music, poetry and the arts. Her knowledge of literature knew no bounds. She was always at home in deep discussion about literature or politics over a nice meal. Sheena was always an advocate for those needing a voice. Her compassion and bravery saw her through enacting the change she wanted to see in the world. We are particularly proud of her time serving the Tulsa Equality Center.
Sheena was at her best around children. She loved to laugh and play while encouraging kids to find their voice and individuality. She was particularly fond of spending time with her beloved nephew Kal and nieces, Sashi and Maisie.
Sheena will be missed by so many who loved her. Her life and memory will always hold a special place in our hearts and we pray that she is now at peace. She is survived by her parents, Shivraj and Harleen Grewal, brother Shaun, sister in law Meg, nephew Kallum, nieces Sashi and Maisie in addition to her many loving uncles, aunts and cousins. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Family and Children's Services.
