Obituary

Shirley Jean Wileman Dunn, 95, of Tulsa passed away peacefully on March 2, 2021 at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Shirley was born on March 10 th , 1925 in Ravenna, Ohio to Etta and Rolla Wileman.  In 1926 her family moved to West Lafayette, Indiana where she attended school and went on to graduate from Purdue University as a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Consumer and Family Sciences.  While there, she met the love of her life, James (Jim) R. Dunn of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  After graduation, Shirley worked in fashion advertising for a department store in Ithaca, New York.  Following Jim's service in the Army Air Corps, Shirley and Jim were married in October 1946 in Ithaca.  They relocated to Schenectady, New York where Jim was employed by General Electric.  They were blessed with two children Stephen and Kathryn.  In 1955 they moved to Palos Verdes Estates, California where Jim was employed by T.R.W.  In 1969, they relocated to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where Jim became president of Reda Pump Company from the company's acquisition by T.R.W. and remained there until 1974 when they returned to California.  In 2004 Shirley and Jim settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma to be near their daughter and son-in-law. She took on leadership roles in Sunday school, Girl and Boy Scouts and PTA. She was also an active board member of the Palos Verdes Golf Association at the Palos Verdes Golf Club.  In Bartlesville, she was a member Service League of Bartlesville and a board member of the Bartlesville Civic Ballet.  In Tulsa, she was a volunteer for Philbrook Museum and the Women's Golf Association at the Oaks Country Club.  Together, she and Jim enjoyed golf, international travel and art collecting.  She was a devout bridge player, golfer, and enjoyed reading, doing needlepoint and socializing with her good friends at Inverness Village in Tulsa.  Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her sister and Jim of 60 years.  Shirley is survived by her son, Steve and his wife Jennifer Dunn of Rancho Santa Fe, California and daughter, Kathy and her husband, Dr. Dean Zervas of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  "Mossie" was incredibly proud of her seven grandchildren and their spouses, Robyn (Dunn) Schwarz and Andrew, Dr. Maren (Dunn) Chandler, Dr. Steven Zervas and Alicia, Melissa (Zervas) Hahne and Josh, Dana (Zervas) Racz and Vince, Zoe (Dunn) Hanson and Tyler, and Brynne (Dunn) Jones and Matt as well as her eleven great grandchildren.  Due to COVID-19, a celebration of life will be held sometime in the summer.
