Broken Arrow

Obituary

Stephen Wayne Brady of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away on December 24th, 2023 from heart failure complications. At the age of 69, Steve had much more wisdom to share than time allowed; all who knew him agree he is gone too soon.

Steve was predeceased by his father Joe Thornton and brother Kenneth Thornton; he leaves behind his mother Helen Thornton, sisters Patricia LaDawn Vandiver and Ramona Rutherford, three sons, Justin, Austin and Trey Brady, three grandchildren Eva, AJ and Kerrigan Brady (the three proudest accomplishments in his life and legacy) and many other extended family and dear friends.

Steve was born on July 22, 1954. He grew up in Talequah, Oklahoma and is a graduate of the Talequah High School class of '73. He completed a Bachelor's degree from Northeastern State University to prepare him for his career in business, but it was Steve's genuine compassion, wit, and loyalty that granted him four decades of success in management at Williams.

Football was always a passion of Steve's, playing in his youth, then cheering on his favorite college and NFL teams as an adult. Steve frequented history and Western genres, from John Wayne films to Craig Johnson novels. He spent many winter days hunting deer at Camp Gruber and in recent years, enjoyed hunting on private land shared with him by a dear friend, Rick. Steve often spoke of his dreams to elk hunt, or catch Moses, that one buck that always seemed to evade him.

As a man of faith, Steve's life is a testament of love and service. Every other weekend, without exception and always with joy, Steve cared for his community by volunteering at the church's food bank. He generously shared his success with those around him and quietly supported local charities. Steve's constant compassion, business acumen, and charming personality left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The Brady family would like to thank you for your gracious acts of sympathy and tribute to honor the memory of Steve Brady.
