Suzanne Gibbs Campbell Pricer

1923 - 2018

Suzanne Gibbs Campbell Pricer died on October 18, 2018 in Pueblo, Colorado.  She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on March 26, 1923 in the apartment above the family grocery store.  Suzanne was the second of three children born to Ross and Nadine (Fixmer) Gibbs, and she was in the first graduating class of Tulsa's Will Rogers High School. She attended Oklahoma College for Women and the University of Tulsa where she met her first husband, Elston Campbell. They were married in 1942 in Birmingham, Alabama where Elston was working, and a year later, in the midst of WWII, he enlisted in the Navy. Together they traveled the country during Elston's officer training before he was deployed to the Pacific Theater.  Suzanne returned to Tulsa where their first child, Irene, was born during Elston's deployment. After Elston returned, they remained in Tulsa where they raised their family. Four more children followed: Jane, Phil, Jim and Trish.  Suzanne's children fondly remember all the songs she sang to them and the poems she recited.

Suzanne's faith was very important to her.  She was baptized as an infant at Tulsa's First Presbyterian Church.  After their marriage, she and Elston joined Wheeling Avenue Christian Church, and she later was involved in the life of First Christian Church, Tulsa Christian Fellowship and First United Methodist Church. For a time, the home phone number was frequently confused with the Oral Roberts Prayer Tower.  Suzanne embraced this as a calling, spending a good deal of time praying with and listening to many people who inadvertently phoned her.

Elston died in 1975, and in 1981 Suzanne married Bob Pricer and relocated to Melbourne, Florida.  There they were active in the Tabernacle Church where they made many lasting friendships.  Suzanne and Bob would spend their summers traveling west to visit family and friends.

In 2010, Suzanne and Bob relocated to the Primrose Retirement Community in Pueblo, Colorado. Bob died in 2013. While at Primrose, Suzanne enjoyed community jigsaw puzzles, outings, and visits with her family.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Berkley Gibbs, sister, Nadine Clark, and her husbands, Elston and Bob.  Left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses Irene Hayden, Jane and Howard Price, Phil and Teresa Campbell, Jim and Jennifer Campbell, Trish and Ken Thompson, 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, two nephews, her descendants' spouses, and many friends and extended family.
