Suzanne Crew Sartin

Suzanne Crew Sartin, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, was born on February 5, 1935, and died on September 16, 2026 after a lengthy struggle with dementia. She was raised in Tahlequah and graduated from Tahlequah High School after her junior year as the Valedictorian of her class. Suzanne attended college at the University of Oklahoma, graduating in three years with a degree in elementary education. While at OU, she was initiated into the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, where she met many of the friends she remained close to throughout her life.

Upon graduation, Suzanne began her teaching career, first in Norman and then in McAlester. In 1955, Suzanne married John Phillip Sartin, and they moved to Tulsa. Suzanne continued teaching until 1962, when her son, John Phillip Sartin, Jr. was born. A second son, Robert Bradley Sartin, was born the following year.

In 1978, Suzanne went to work at Miss Jackson’s where she spent 20 years as the gift buyer. She retired in 1998, and spent the next 20 years volunteering in a variety of positions at First Presbyterian Church, retiring for a second time when her health no longer allowed her to work.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Maynee Crew, her sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Mike Crawley, her son, John Phillip Sartin, Jr., and her nephew, Christopher Edward Crew Crawley. She is survived by her son, Robert and wife, Melissa, daughter-in-law, Angela Sartin Hartung and husband, Jeff, niece Laura Castleberry and husband, Pat, grandchildren, Maggie Hartung Ariekela and husband, Sam, Phillip Sartin, Evan Hartung, Jack Sartin and wife, Linda, Abigail Sartin and Maggie Sartin, and great-grandaughter, Maeve Ariekela.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Trinity Woods, Comfort Keepers and TruHeart Hospice for the many years of loving care they provided to Suzanne.

Suzanne’s service will be held in the Chapel at First Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m.. on Monday, September 21, 2026. Private interment at Tahlequah City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome memorial contributions to the charity of your choice.
