Teresa Anne Tichenor was born in Wabash, Arkansas on June 25th, 1948, the 3rd of 6 children born to her parents Cecil and Violet Qualls. She was married to Jack Tichenor on June 23rd, 1979. Teresa spent most of her life in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1966 and later earned her associate degree from Tulsa Community College, becoming a certified legal assistant. She was employed by various law firms both in Tulsa and in Southfield, Michigan, where she and Jack resided for a year before returning to Tulsa. Teresa and Jack celebrated the birth of their son Adam on July 16th, 1981. She was active in her church, Memorial Drive Methodist, as a choir member and leader of the prayer card ministry, sending handcrafted cards to members who were unable to attend services. Teresa was a member of a large close-knit family and acted as the point person for any and all joys, sorrows, or crises, both large or small. Whether calling for a plumber or handling bereavement tasks for her loved ones, she was a master at arranging and precisely delegating details with tact and love in her heart. However, if a situation called for a strong stand, she was more than ready, willing, and able to hold fast to the right way as she saw it. She nearly always was right. Teresa was a marvelous cook. Her culinary creations sometimes began with a recipe, but always finished and with her own touches, using just the right amount of spices to make delicious offerings. Teresa is survived by her heartbroken husband of 41 years, Jack Tichenor; her son, Adam, his wife, Shonda, and their son, her grandson, Alexander Tichenor, Tulsa, OK. She is also survived by her siblings Kathy Burns, Collinsville, OK; Marion Qualls and his wife, Billie, Spavinaw, OK; John Qualls and his wife, Jodi, Broken Arrow, OK; Pam Hicks and her son, Richard Hicks, Springdale, AK; and Diane Grant, Sand Springs, OK. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including Linda Jobe, Owasso, OK, with whom Teresa was especially close. Teresa was predeceased by her parents and 3 nephews, Patrick Leland, Owasso, OK; Michael Leland, Collinsville, OK; and Matt Qualls, Kansas City, MO. She was also predeceased by Eric Grant, husband of Diane Grant. A memorial service will take place at a date to be determined due to the current pandemic. Details will follow when known. Hello all. This is Adam Tichenor. Sometime during the early hours of Monday, April 27th, my unbelievably strong, brave, and beautiful mother passed away peacefully in her sleep from what we believe were heart complications. We all knew this day was coming but the shock of this loss is surreal. Like you, I am simultaneously speechless and full of words. It further grieves me to tell you that due to the current health crisis, her memorial will be delayed until we can responsibly gather to celebrate her life. We want to share this with you: after almost two years of remission, we had recently learned that she was losing her battle with ovarian cancer. She was not looking forward to a long, painful death. Rejoice in that. Her (and our) prayers for a quick and painless death were answered. That fact alone has sustained us and will sustain you.
